Jabra Evolve2 65 Headphone Review
Now more than ever, working from home has become quite common. For this reason, many and many of you have wanted to invest in technological devices that can create a home office environment as comfortable as possible.
In this sense, Jabra is one of the brands that has best understood how important it is to have the right devices at work. Proof of this is its range of Evolve headphones, designed to be used in office environments.
In my case, I had the opportunity to try a model that surprised me a lot: the new Jabra Evolve2 65. Keep in mind that they come in different configurations: with one speaker or two, with or without charging stand or with connectivity USB-A or USB-C.
The specific model that I am going to analyze in this article is the one that comes with a charging base, with USB-C connectivity, and with two speakers. If you need the helmets to work in a call-center or to receive calls without completely isolating yourself from your surroundings, I recommend the mono option.
In my case, I liked being able to try the stereo option, since I like being able to isolate myself with my music from the sometimes chaotic environment in which I have to work.
Here’s more about my experience with the Jabra Evolve2 65. Find out if they are really worth it or not.
What comes in the box?
In my case, the box includes (obviously), the headphones in black, the charging base, a USB-C cable, a case to be able to transport them comfortably and safely, and a small USB dongle to connect them to a computer. without having to use Bluetooth.
Before opening the box I already had the feeling of being in front of a quality device. Perfectly packaged, with a black zippered case in case you want to transport them and their charging base, in case you want to always leave them on your desk, I have already started to like the Evolve2 65.
I liked them even more when I was able to place them on my desk, elegantly resting on the charging base, with a single cable that can be easily hidden so as not to overload your work table. The model I have tested, as you can see in the photos, has a matte black finish, but if you prefer, they are also available in beige.
Personally, I prefer black, since I think it is a color that is going to get less dirty and that still has that classic and conventional touch that I like to see so much on my technological devices.
The charging base has a non-slip sole thanks to which it will be well supported on any surface. Beyond that, it is made up of a kind of ele inclined at an angle of about 60 degrees. At the top you will be able to support one of the headset speakers, it will be then when the device is charging.
As I have already explained, the charging base is optional, you can save yourself some money if you choose not to buy it. If you need the headphones to listen to music while walking, doing housework or traveling on public transport, the charging base will be rather useless.
However, in my case, I have used the headphones in my work time, so the charging base, in addition to giving a very elegant touch to my desk, allows me to easily have the device charged at all times.
The helmets have a matt black plastic finish on the outside, while the inside of the headband is made of a rubber that will adapt perfectly to your head.
Beyond the aesthetics of the helmets, it is important to note that they are very comfortable to use. I have used them for hours without ever bothering me, they hardly weigh and do not tighten. This is very important if, like me, you are going to use them for work.
The microphone on the right side lifts up to turn off, you just have to lower it to turn it back on. Obviously, if you are used to receiving many calls while you work, this tool will become essential for you.
The microphone gives you an operator touch while wearing them, something you may or may not like depending on your needs.
This is undoubtedly the most important point when choosing one headset or another. In this case, the Evolve2 65 will not disappoint you. Its 40mm speakers, coupled with the chipset that Jabra claims to be the most advanced to date, are capable of providing excellent sound quality.
In this case, the padded design of the helmets plays an important point, since it is capable of canceling 48% more noise from the outside than another model with another design.
The calls will be the point in which these ariculars stand out the most, the voices are heard clear and clear. In addition, the option of being able to lower the microphone to turn it on or off makes them even more practical.
If you are going to use them to listen to music, you may be interested in visiting their personalized application thanks to which you can customize the sound according to your preferences. There are six different options that will bring out the sound you hear more or less depending on your style.
The application is quite intuitive and easy to use, so just by navigating through it for a few seconds you will know how to better customize your headphones.
Properly configured, any type of music will be able to shine. We hear powerful bass, sharpness and many nuances. Without a doubt, in sound quality they do not disappoint.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the Jabra Evolve2 65 does not have ANC technology, that is, active noise cancellation. As you know, this means that the device implements a technology to digitally eliminate background noise, achieving a total noise cancellation effect.
In this case, we are facing passive noise isolation, that is, the device’s own hardware (the pads almost always) is used to isolate from background noise. The truth is that, although it does not isolate as precisely as with ANC, it works quite well.
Personally, I think that if you are going to use the headphones to work, you will want to isolate the background noise, yes, but you also want to be able to hear the voice of your partner if she calls you to ask you something. In this case, the Evolve2 65 offers a perfect combo.
The battery is one of the highlights of the Jabra Evolve2 65 headphones. The device can last up to 37 hours in operation. In addition, if you have chosen to buy them with their charging base, you will have the feeling that the battery never runs out, since as soon as you take them off, the helmets start to charge (if you lean them on their load, obviously).
The charging speed is also quite fast: in 90 minutes they are 100% charged. And if you need a little battery kick before you leave home, you’ll get 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.
Many and many may regret the absence of a 3.5 mm wired headphone connection. In fact. And yes, it is true that when I go to buy new headphones I usually notice that they have this type of connection, since I like to control when I want Bluetooh or not.
However, in this case, the battery life is so amazing that it will be rare that someone will ever find the need to use an AUX cable.
Tools and use
One of the highlights is that Jabra has optimized the headset for Microsoft Teams or Unified Communication. You can choose one of these two options when you go to buy the device (the price is the same).
This shows once again how these helmets are suitable for use in professional and work environments. They will understand each other perfectly with the Microsoft Suite: the integrated LED system will allow you to receive notifications according to the color of the light. For example, if you are being called into a meeting in Teams, it will flash purple.
Regarding the pairing, as with all kinds of similar devices, it was quite easy to carry out. You can connect the headphones with up to 8 devices at the same time, although you can only control two at a time. This can be somewhat confusing at times, in my experience, when connecting the mobile and the computer I heard continuous messages in which “Device connected” was repeated.
The helmets come with a small dongle that you can connect to your computer to be able to have them connected without using Bluetooth. Now, when using them with my Mac computer, I realized that for this to work I had to configure the audio output from the Jabra instead of the Mac speakers.
If you always wear helmets, you won’t have any problem. In my situation I like to alternate the sound with headphones and without them, so it was a bit annoying for me to have to access the settings to change it every time I wanted to listen to music from the Mac without headphones.
You can connect the charging base with the USB cable that is integrated into your computer, to leave it fixed on your desk. The truth is that this element is incredibly practical.
In this case, we are not dealing with touch controls. On the right side you will find the controls for raising and lowering the volume and for pausing or playing the track you are listening to. If you press the two volume buttons at the same time, a red light will turn on around the headphones which means that you are on a call and should not be disturbed.
Obviously, your colleagues will have to be aware of what the red light means. If they are, we are again faced with a fairly practical tool. It also reminds us once again that it is undoubtedly a device designed to be used in work environments.
In addition to the volume, pause and play controls, you will also have the on / off button and the one to activate the Bluetooth pairing mode.
Price and availability
The Jabra Evolve2 65 headphones can be purchased in different configurations, their final price will depend on what you choose.
If you choose a mono speaker, that is, only one earphone, very useful for use in the office or call centers, USB-A connectivity and no charging support, the earphones will cost you € 289.19.
On the other hand, if you choose the more expensive specifications, that is, stereo speakers, USB-C and charging stand, the price rises to € 361.79 with VAT.
You can make the purchase through the official Jabra website . Keep in mind that an extra is charged for shipping the product.
If you want to save the cost of shipping, you can take a look at Amazon Spain. You can also choose the different configurations according to your preferences.
If you are looking for headphones to use in the office or in your work time, the Jabra Evolve2 65 may be the model you are looking for. They are very comfortable to use for hours, they are designed to be used with work suites like Microsoft’s and they have an incredible quality for calls.
We also like the possibility of being able to choose a single headset and the charging base. We really think that the charging base is worth it, you will forget that you have to charge the device if you usually rest it on its base.
The sound quality in general, although it stands out especially in calls, is good in every way, especially if you configure it correctly thanks to its intuitive personalized application.
They are not the cheapest headphones on the market, but we liked the care that Jabra has taken to make them one of the most comfortable and practical working headphones on the market.
