How to remove Meet tab from Gmail on Android
Google recently rebranded its Hangouts video calling service to Meet and included it in the Gmail app on Android. In these days when isolation and video meeting are the order of the day, it’s a useful feature that provides an alternative to Zoom and Skype.
But if you prefer to keep your apps simple and don’t like the Meet icon appearing at the bottom of the Gmail app, it’s pretty easy to make it disappear. We show you how to remove the Meet tab from Gmail on Android.
How to remove Meet from the Gmail app on Android
When you open the Gmail app on Android, you’ll notice that the footer has two tabs, one for Mail and one for Meet. Making them disappear is very simple. One that’s easy to reverse if you decide that you really want Meet to be available with the touch of a screen.
To remove Meet, tap on the three lines in the upper left corner to open the applications menu. Scroll to the bottom of the list until you find Settings, and then tap on it.
On the next page you will be presented with several options, but the one you need to select is your Gmail address, so tap that to open the following options.
Scroll down until you find the Meet section. Here you will see two configuration options: ‘Show Meet tab for video calls’ and ‘Send more diagnostic information’.
Tap on the box in the first, obviously. Once this is done, return to the main Gmail page and the ‘Meet’ tab will become history.
If you want to have it again, you just have to repeat these steps and touch once more the option Show the Meet tab to make video calls.
