GoPro HERO 9 comes with more screens, 5K recording and much more
Looking to the final stretch of the year, the GoPro HERO 9 Black has just been announced with a whole series of improvements based on what customers have demanded, as highlighted during the presentation by company spokesmen.
Highlights include the 5K quality video capture, a secondary color screen located on the front, improved HyperSmooth 3.0 stabilization, as well as greater autonomy for field trips.
When is the GoPro HERO 9 Black going on sale?
The GoPro HERO Black is the model that has been announced and that you can now purchase from the manufacturer’s official website. As we will see below, you will find two different prices depending on whether you purchase it with a subscription to the GoPro service or not.
How much does the GoPro HERO 9 Black cost?
The recommended price of the new GoPro HERO 9 Black is € 379.98 with a one-year subscription to the GoPro service, or € 479.99 if you choose to opt out. As you know, the service includes free camera replacement, unlimited cloud storage, and discounts at the GoPro.com store.)
Users have welcomed this price in a positive way since it represents a saving of € 50 compared to the price of the Hero 8 Black presented last year.
What features does the GoPro HERO 9 Black offer?
Fulfilling the rumors that were running around the network, the new GoPro HERO 9 comes with two color screens, so that users will be able to see and frame what they record thanks to the 1.4-inch LCD front screen.
The other main screen, located at the rear, is now 16% larger than the previous generation to stand at 2.27 inches.
The HERO 9 also has a 20 MP higher resolution image sensor (surpassing even the Fusion and Max models), a facet that will allow you to capture video at 5K quality and at a rate of 30 fps.
Although the design is not as different as it may appear to the existing HERO 8 Black, it retains the integrated mounting points and the battery access cover. In this sense, the battery capacity is larger with 1,720 mAh, which gives it 30% more duration.
GoPro has also highlighted in the presentation that the design is more resistant to cold environments and, naturally, the ecosystem of Mods that the company introduced last year also expands on the HERO 9 Black.
We assume that we have a new Media Mod (in the photo), support for the Display Mod and existing Light lights. The lens included with the HERO 9 rotates and can be replaced with the Max Lens Mod to unlock a 155º FOV digital lens and Max HyperSmooth stabilization of up to 2.7K at 60fps.
GoPro’s patented stabilization technology, known as HyperSmooth, reaches version 3.0 and together with the integrated stabilization block, it offers the smoothest and most stable recording of the company’s models.
Within the software section, the novelties are given by the inclusion of the programmed capture mode, which allows you to ‘shoot and forget’ to capture time lapses and the like without the need for user interaction in real time.
It is not yet clear which of these new features in the new HERO 9 Black will arrive and carry over to HERO 8 and previous models.
