First Impressions: Samsung Galaxy Fold Excellent Review
Samsung Galaxy Fold: is it worth your purchase?
The Samsung Galaxy Fold is a clear example of very new technology that still has a lot to improve. However, first impressions are good, especially when we use deployed smartphones.
Not all good things, and mobile is still bad and some heavy. The screen on the cover does not close completely. Buying the fold is currently a risk, especially since its launch has already been postponed following problems.

Samsung Galaxy Fold Review: First Impressions
The technology industry works like this: always waits for what will happen next that will bring revolution in the field. However, nothing has managed to dominate it more than smartphones, which dominate our day to day lives.
This is why manufacturers focus all their efforts to re-establish mobile as we know it today. An example of this is the new Samsung Galaxy fold: a smartphone that folds in half.
The result is many years of work. However, will Samsung manage to change the industry forever? Or will this design prove to be zero practical and very expensive? We explain everything after our first contact with the Galaxy Fold.
Price and availability
It is not surprising that the Samsung Galaxy Fold is an expensive device, priced at $ 1.800. The 5G version, which will no longer be available in our country, costs $1.980. Samsung Galaxy Fold Review
Design: half to half
Of course, the most special thing about this smartphone is its design. On the outside, the Galaxy Fold has a 4.6-inch AMOLED screen that you can use when the phone is folded as if it were a very Android mobile.
When deployed, the mobile acquires a book-like design and you’ll get an OLED screen that is more typical in a 7.3-inch tablet. Will not leave you indifferent. This hinged system allows you to protect the internal screen when folded.
As expected on Samsung devices, the internal screen is of the highest quality: an AMOLED with vibrant and dark colors, with an incredible color balance and first level brightness. But it is a plastic screen and it causes many reflections.
Even when the Galaxy Fold is fully positioned, you can see a small lump in the middle where it bends. Obviously, this is unavoidable and the only way it can work, but it is impossible to ignore.
We should also mention the fingerprint marks that populate the plastic screen. It all goes away from the perfect flat glass screen that we find in tablets. The fold has less premium air, but it is still of quality.
Does the Galaxy Fold work?
In addition to its new design, Galaxy Fold made several headlines at the beginning of the year after introducing several technical problems. After its breakdown, Samsung was forced to postpone its launch.
Months later, Samsung seems to have solved this by building a model with a stronger structure. To prevent people from breaking it easily, the company has removed an easy-to-remove layer, now located below the bevel.
The hinge has also been improved and reinforced with a piece of plastic that tightens the screen and prevents dirt and dirt from seeping through. Will these changes be enough? Only time will tell and it will take more than 10 minutes to investigate.
Performance and specifications
The Galaxy Fold offers several options for taking photos. At the rear, it has the same triple camera configuration as the Galaxy S10 Plus: 16MP main lens, 12MP wide angle lens and 12MP telephoto lens.
If you use Teh Mobile, you can use a 10 MP camera on the cover. Once deployed, it has a 10 MP and 8 MP dual front camera. Obviously, none of them will offer you as much detail as the main cameras.Samsung Galaxy Fold Review
On the other hand, the Samsung Continuity app is very useful because it allows you to continue the task that you have when you turn to the second screen, leaving half the inside screen. It also works the other way.
Although it works perfectly with Google Maps or web browsers, not all applications are compatible. In our case, Twitter has given us some problems that, when deployed, it shows the size of the external screen.
If you look at the internal components, they do not disappoint: Snapdragon 855 processor, 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. You shouldn’t have performance problems, but not on other cheap phones like the S10 Plus.
However, the truth is that anyone who is interested in the fold will not buy it only for its internal specifications. Its HDR10 + screen and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers are a success when you play video games or watch movies.
Each half of the screen has its own battery, which has a capacity of 4325 mAh in its entirety. We are not able to check how many hours translate, but it should be enough to load it once a day. It has fast, wireless and reversible charging.
The hinge is everything
Certainly, the most impressive part of the fold’s construction is its rein. According to Samsung, it is made of twenty pieces of stainless steel that facilitate movement and the mobile is held together while turning.
As you can see in the photos, the mobile is not completely flat when folded. There is a hole between the two parts of the screen. This makes the fold quite fast and, if you force a little you will be able to close it completely, we advise against it.
When deployed, the smartphone will automatically switch to tablet mode. You will not need to exert too much force, although you will know that it will be fully deployed as soon as you hear the “click”. You must have entered tablet mode before listening.
For biometrics, you can unlock the Galaxy Fold using the fingerprint sensor located just below the power button. On the other hand, you should know that it does not have a jack port, so you should use Galaxy Buds in the box.
Software: One UI
The Galaxy Fold has the Android 9 Pie based operating system One UI, although with the next arrival of Android 10 it is expected to be compatible as well. This is everything you can expect from such a mobile.
It is committed to the multitasking capability you would expect from a tablet and is provided seamlessly. You can open up to three windows on the screen at the same time, and even a quarter if you don’t mind, it overlaps another.
Our experience has been good, although you should know that not all applications are compatible. We will have to wait until we can do an in-depth analysis of the Galaxy fold to see if this is really an entire system, which we intuit will not happen.Samsung Galaxy Fold Review
Will Galaxy Fold Revolutionize the Telephone Industry? Only time will tell, but what is indisputable is that design is something that is never seen. The practical thing that has come to light is more dubious, as well as how people decide to spend so much money.
This is especially true if we believe that this is very new technology and, not long ago, Samsung had to postpone its launch due to several technical problems. It can be risky to assume that the company has already resolved all of them.
