Excellent Review of the 13 ”MacBook Air of (2019)
Apple has no middle part: either it makes a full update with the 2019 Mac Pro or just small changes with the iPhone XS. Precisely the latter is also the case with the new MacBook Air.
The 13 ”MacBook Air launched in July is not much different from the previous generation model, so it offers nothing revolutionary. Of course, this also means that it is one of the best laptops in the market.
Below you can read our review of the MacBook Air (2019) after analyzing the speed of its processor and its graphics card, the autonomy of its battery and the quality of its new True Tone screen and the quality of its new keyboard.
Price and availability
As always, the easiest way to buy an Apple product with a guarantee is through their website. The MacBook Air (2019) can be purchased from € 1,249 / $ 26,999, which will increase according to the specifications you choose.
Design and manufacturing quality
No objection to the design of the MacBook Air. Its 13-inch screen is complemented by a huge trackpad and end-to-end keyboard that is quite convenient to use. It all takes place in a thin and light structure.
The MacBook Air is available in three colors: Silver, Gold and Space Gray. This last option is certainly the most sophisticated, but there is no doubt that they manage to deliver the typical air of all Apple products.
With the exception of the keyboard, everything described above is the same in the 2018 model. As we announced in the beginning that Apple is safe and has not made many changes with the new Air.
Keyboard and trackpad
Since Apple has decided to change the system of its keyboard, it has been experiencing the same problems every time updating a model. Users are not happy with the results, focusing their complaints on the accountability of the keys.
With the 2019 MacBook Air, Apple wants to include a keyboard made with new content, although we don’t know if it is similar to the one offered in the MacBook Pro. However, the butterfly system has been preserved.
Fortunately, the Apple company has managed to reduce annoying noise during typing. Although the keys are still very close, the truth is that it is quite comfortable to use, especially for the long time you are typing.
On the other hand, we have a huge trackpad of 8.2 x 12 cm. In this case, it is compatible with Force Touch control, which allows you to activate certain functions by pressing more or less on the touchpad.
Performance and specifications
One of the aspects that MacBook Air has improved is on screen. This is due, in part, to the introduction of the True Tone technique, which automatically adjusts the screen’s intensity and color according to natural light.
We should point out, yes, in our experience True Tone is more effective than a more portable device. Thus, the results will be better on the iPhone or iPad, and the truth is that the experience with the Air has not been entirely good.
We can be a little sequemkis, but the orange tone that the screen presents in a low-light environment is more difficult to focus on. If you have a similar feeling, you can always disable True Tone, or use Night Shift.
Also, the screen is still the same. It has a maximum resolution of 227 ppi at 257 x 1600, which makes everything look crisp, bright and vibrant. For now, yes, it still doesn’t touch.
The MacBook Air (2019) has a 1.6 GHz dual-core inel Core i5 processor and 8 GB RAM. It is no different, then, what the 2018 model offers and it is not even revolutionary in the notebook arena.
In fact, if we are guided by the results of benchmarking tests, the 2018 model is somewhat faster than the 2019 model. reason? Precisely because the new laptop includes a slower SSD.
You can take a look at all the results in the chart below. In conclusion, it is not the fastest laptop on the market, but for some users it may be enough. This is ideal, for example, for students, but not for design professionals.
Connectivity and audio
The 2019 MacBook Air has stereo headphones on both sides. The audio is decent, especially considering that it is a laptop. That means you can’t expect spectacular lows, but that’s enough.
As for connectivity, it has two Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports on the left side that you can use to charge the laptop or to connect devices compatible with DisplayPort, Thunderbolt or USB C 3.1.
Although we can no longer enjoy the touch bar in the air range, the new model incorporates the Touch ID fingerprint sensor next to the F12 key. This is a very useful feature of logging in as you do on your iPhone or iPad.
The Air notebook range is known for its long battery life, and this MacBook is no exception: 13 hours and 7 minutes with a brightness of 120 cd / m 2 and True Tone disabled. You can take a look at the results obtained in benchmarking tests .
On the other hand, MacBook Air (2019) comes with 30 W USB C charger. This means that you can charge your laptop quickly: 0 minutes to 25% to 30 minutes. To enjoy fast charging, you will need to purchase a more powerful adapter.
Now that Apple has reduced its entry price, the MacBook Air is an even better purchase option. Although there have not been many changes compared to the model of the previous year, there are reports that will definitely interest you.
For starters, the keyboard has been improved. Although perfection has not yet been achieved, it no longer makes that annoying noise beforehand and the distance between key and key is more appropriate. Of course, some will still not be at all comfortable to use.
But as you are seeing, there has been no major change, this could be good news: so the 2019 MacBook Air is still an excellent laptop, with good design, excellent battery autonomy and great performance.
